I thought this spider was so interesting I tried to take it's photo.
I got one that's pretty good:
I would say she was about the size of a nickel, maybe 2 cm.
The web was huge, approximately 4 foot circular web, with attachments a long ways out.
The little glob above her is one of her "snacks."
She was a very hard worker, running as fast as she possibly could around the web
to connect all the "spokes". The web was under our yard light so she had very
good fishing. In the morning, at daybreak the entire thing was totally gone,
and that happened in only a few minutes because I had been working during the
night and keeping an eye on what she was doing. I don't know if my cat knocked it
down or if she did it.
I assume it's a jewelled spider or something. The white triangle is very odd.
In every photo the white triangle showed like neon, even if you couldn't see
anything else. It's not easy to take photos at night.
This last photo is from the underside of the web.
It's interesting that there is NO white on this side of the spider at all.
Anyone is welcome to use the photos if they want them.
