I live in the outskirts of Los Angeles in the hills and am used to new creatures. However, this spider was really large (2.5-3 inches long including legs). According to my research, I think it is a wolf spider since I think extra eyes are visible on his back. He was found during daylight, about 97 degrees F, without any web nearby.
